37signals API documentation now hosted on Github

By: Category: News

When we saw that 37signals, creators of fantastic products such as Basecamp and Campfire, had started hosting their own documentation on Github, we had to share the news.

This is quite a bold move, as it shows 37signals, a company known to go to pretty extreme lengths to solve problems their own way, have enough trust in Github to use it for a critical role in their business. Nick from 37signals explains:

Each 37signals product now has its own API documentation repository:

The 37signals folks explain some of the benefits of the move:

My favorite new feature of the API documentation is that each endpoint now has its own permalink. For example, here’s Highrise’s Get deal endpoint.

This is a very cool move and I imagine there will be a lot more amendments (think typo corrections) to the API documentation over the coming weeks. Check them out!
